Kelcut Gasket and Rubber has been manufacturing high quality die cut rubber gaskets in a variety of materials and specifications to suit any industry.
Introduced to the aerospace industry over 50 years ago, fluoroelastomer has remained the preferred material of aerospace professionals. Fluoroelastomer has since spread across a variety of other industries including appliance, chemical, automotive and fluid power industries.
The popularity of fluoroelastomer material is due to its incredible performance in extremely hot and corrosive atmospheres. It maintains excellent stability in high heat up to 200 degrees Celsius. Fluoroelastomer’s resistance to fuel and various chemicals makes it the ideal rubber gasket material for a wide variety of applications and industries.
Type A: This type of fluoroelastomer consists of 66% nominal polymer fluorine. Type A fluoroelastomer is best suited for general purpose sealing in the automotive and aerospace industries.
Type B: Type B fluoroelastomer consists of 68% nominal polymer fluorine. This is typically utilized in power utility and chemical processing plant seals and gaskets.
Type F: This type of fluoroelastomer consists of 70% nominal polymer fluorine. This is typically used in areas with concentrated levels of water, steam and aqueous inorganic acids.
Specialty Types: The specialty fluoroelastomer consists of GLT, GBLT, GFLT and Viton Extreme. These specialties are a combination of various polymers, ethylenes and TFE/PMVE materials. The specialty types are typically used in extremely severe, unforgiving conditions in the automotive and oil industries.
It is important to keep in mind the varying percentage of fluorine content. The higher levels of fluorine polymers mean an increased resistance to degradation and swelling from fluid exposure.
