PTFE (Teflon) Custom Die Cutting

PTFE - Chemical Resistant Gaskets

PTFE (Teflon) is a plastic invented in the 1930s and are a popular choice for plastic gaskets in industries like food production and pharmaceutical. PTFE was even utilized in the Manhattan Project facilities.

With the exception of alkali metals and fluorine gas, PTFE is highly resistant to:

  • Corrosive liquids
  • Chemicals and solvents
  • Vapors and gasses
  • Most acids

Die Cut Manufacturing

PTFE is hydrophobic, meaning it naturally repels water. Teflon plastic gaskets have superior thermal insulation properties and an ability to operate in a wide range of temperature extremes; from -240 degrees Celsius to 260 degrees Celsius. It ranges in thickness, typically from .002” up to .250”.

Our die cut gasket manufacturing experts will work with you to fabricate the perfect Teflon gasket to best suit your industrial needs.

Three Types of PTFE Gasket Materials

Virgin PTFE: The most affordable type of Teflon, which can be used in most industry applications. Virgin PTFE is soft and malleable, making it an excellent choice for chemical resistant seals and gaskets.

Filled PTFE: This features a virgin PTFE base. Various substances can be added during the manufacturing process to improve its sealing qualities. This is the most common type of Teflon gasket for industrial uses, since it possesses greater mechanical strength compared to pure virgin material. Our typical fillers include:

  • Glass
  • Carbon
  • Graphite

Expanded PTFE: This material possesses a unique chemical resistance. During the manufacturing process a stress resistance is added through molecular rearrangement. This leads to expanded PTFE having no structural weakness, or grain. This material will expand and contract equally in all directions.
