Custom Gasket Die Cutting & Manufacturing for Industrial Piping

Choose the Correct Gaskets for Your Industrial Piping System

In any piping system, gaskets are a crucial component for overall performance and life expectancy of the system. Gaskets create strong seals that prevent leaks and add to the structural integrity. There are 4 things to consider before selecting the gasket material for your piping system.

1. The fluid flowing through the piping system

Acids, bases, and salts all affect materials on a molecular level. Choosing a resistant gasket material ensures a strong seal that will maintain pressure and performance.

2. Impact of temperature on the materials

Most industrial piping systems require fluid to reach a certain temperature. Some plastics and rubbers are better at maintaining the same durability at high temperatures. At the same time, if you live in a climate with harsh winters, you should select a gasket material that can maintain its integrity at subzero temperatures.

3. Compatibility with the piping material

Make sure to check if the gasket material is compatible with your piping system. Certain materials can leach into the CPVC and create small fractures that weaken the material and the pipe joint.

4. Gasket lubricants

Lubricants are commonly used to improve the gasket’s seal within a joint. Using the wrong lubricant can break down the CPVC and weaken the material & joint.

Recommended Piping Gaskets

After finding a compatible material, the physical properties should also meet the demands of the system. We recommend piping gaskets be

  • 1/8” thick minimum
  • Full-faced covering the entire surface of the flange
  • A hardness of 50-80A durometer

Our die cutting experts have 30+ years of experience creating custom high-quality gaskets for piping and plumbing applications. We can craft gaskets from over 20 different materials based on your request.

Custom Industrial Piping Gaskets for All Applications

Kelcut Gasket & Rubber creates seals and gaskets for a variety of piping applications including:

Custom die cut gaskets for plumbing industry

  • Water pipes
  • Boilers
  • Fuel Tanks
  • Oil pipelines
  • Gas pipelines
  • Plumbing

Most Common Gasket Types

  • Sheet gaskets: punched out of a sheet of material (usually rubber) and are used to seal pipes and tanks containing chemicals. Ideal for use with acids, steam, and corrosive chemicals
  • Ring gaskets: mainly used in off-shore oil and gas pipelines. Solid rings of metal that operate under extremely high temperatures
  • Kammprofile gaskets: flexible and reliable in construction piping. Solid metal corrugated core with flexible covering layer, which allows for higher compression and a tight seal

Common Gasket Materials for the Piping Industry:

  • Silicone: Ideal for piping in colder climates due to its high performance and durability in extreme temperatures. Inherently inert to bacteria, mold and fungi. Silicone is great when exposed to ozone and oxygen and has excellent heat resistance.
  • Neoprene: Extremely versatile synthetic rubber that can be used in harsh environments because of its resistance to oil and petroleum solvents. Neoprene is also resistant against aging, sunlight, and cold & wet weather conditions. Ideal choice for transporting oil/gas.
  • EPDM rubber: Popular for its extreme resistant to heat, sunlight, and aging. It also helps to preserve colors and dies through harsh weather conditions, making it a popular choice for outdoor piping.
  • Cork: Highly compressible and flexible compared to many other gasket materials. Cork gaskets were commonly used many years ago; however, cork is still used as a sealant gasket today. The oil industry commonly uses cork gaskets because of their high flexibility and compression.
  • Customized Elastomers: can be expertly designed to meet your exact applications needs and are effective under extreme high and low temperatures and not easily effected by environmental factors like water, sun and atmospheric gases.
  • And many more gasket materials

These materials are great for piping and plumbing because they maintain their compression and durability in corrosive chemicals and extreme temperatures. Kelcut Gasket & Rubber’s quality materials and custom die cutting experience won’t fail your business. We will work with you to design the perfect fitting gaskets for any application. We work with business nationwide, from east to west coast.
